"Legend" Readings Return to Old Dutch

Jonathan KrukMaster storyteller Jonathan Kruk returns to the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow this October to give his dramatic readings of Washington Irving’s classic tale, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," featuring the Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane, Brom Bones, and Katrina Van Tassel. Flavored with live spooky organ music by Jim Keyes, Kruk’s storytelling captivates all audiences. Admissions for this 45-minute performance are by timed ticket only, which MUST be purchased in advance. Make plans to attend on one of these dates: October 6-8, 12-14, 19-21, 26-28. Evening performances are at 5, 6:15, 7:30, 8:45. (No 5 p.m. performance on Fridays, no 8:45 performance on Sundays and Columbus Day Monday.) A New Book About the Old Dutch

Stories from the Old Dutch Church's 326 years are collected in an engaging and colorful new 137-page book published by the Friends of the Old Dutch Church & Burying Ground. The book includes many entertaining true tales about the church and its members and is fully illustrated with color photos, art and maps. More than a history, it gives fascinating glimpses into life in the early Colony, folk art traditions in the Burying Ground gravestones, models for Washington Irving's "Legend of Sleepy Hollow," local heroes of the Revolution, remarkable pastors, and many colorful characters associated with the church and community over the years. Sales go toward preserving the church & burying ground for future generations to enjoy.
